A Touch of Glamour Courtesy of Room and Board

When we moved into our new house one of the pieces I needed right away was a living room sofa. For those of you who know me realize this decision could take months and it did!!!  I could not decide for the longest time, luckily for me my good friend Karen works for Room and Board.  I had originally seen the Hutton when I went to visit Karen at work but was still living downtown and did not need a sofa at that point.  I immediately fell in love with this sofa and wanted it badly but of course when it came time to buy I kept second guessing myself.  In the end I purchased the Hutton and love it for so many reasons.  It is truly a cross between modern and classic, the color is gorgeous (I got it in cloud), it is very comfortable and deep so it's the perfect spot for reading. The hutton comes in four different sizes/styles and 6 colors, I really like the indigo it's such a beautiful peacock color!!!

***Please excuse the look of the unfinished room as my house is still a work in progress--I plan to post pics of all rooms once they are done :)

Federal Mirrors

My dear friend and author of Admiring Pretty Things Kell turned me on to federal mirrors and now I am crazy about them!!!  I was trying to figure out what to put on either side of our HUGE tv and Kell suggested flanking either side with two federal mirrors.  Then the hunt was on, federal mirrors can be expensive so I turned to ebay to find some on the cheap :)  After a few days I found two that were similar in size and the bidding began.....I scored both for around $28 a piece (pretty good).  Once they arrived Kell suggested I use Kilz spray paint primer to magically turn them white.  One of them we could remove the mirror before spraying and the other we had to tape off.  After only two coats and about 10 mins they were done!!!  No other paint was needed.   After finishing the two for my family room I purchased another smaller one on ebay for Marco's room.
Here are the easy steps below and finished product, thanks again Kell!!!

FABULOUS FRIDAYS!!!!

I think I am going to dedicate Fridays to images I L.O.V.E.!  I spend hours looking through  pictures online, in mags and books sometimes I come across something that makes me want to cry tears of joy. LOL  Love the color on the walls, the mirrored bed, the black and white chair, and oversized artwork.
Now if I could only talk my husband into a pink bedroom :0

The Fabulous World of Anne Harwell

One of my favorite artists is Anne Harwell, I came across her amazing work on etsy (of course).  I fell in love with her work immediately particularly her room interiors.   Her use of colors is divine and her pieces simply spoke to me.  Recently, I gave my sister-in-law one of Anne's pieces (Courtney's Favorite Things) for her fortieth birthday--I wanted to get her something extra special and thought this fit the bill. I can envision several of these together as a grouping on a wall or one alone in any room of your home.  I WANT them all!!!  Here is just a sampling of her work currently available on etsy.

A picture says a thousand words or maybe a scarf?

One of my very favorite pieces in my house is a Hermes scarf I had framed and hangs over my fireplace.  I got this idea from my best friend Darby who has several from her mother and grandmother.  I love it for so many reasons, it's truly beautiful, very unique, and can be used anywhere.  They look amazing over mantels, beds, in a hallway--really anywhere.  I plan on passing mine down as a family heirloom, those special family pieces always mean the most! Here are a few pictures of mine hope you enjoy!
